Vibrations in civil engineering
Any structural built experiences certain forms of vibration inherent to the structure. These forms of vibration basically depend on the rigidity and mass of the structure. If through measurements we can obtain these established forms of vibration, then we in turn obtain the mass and rigidity of the structure from which we can define the real structure behavior: whether it will really support the design loads, possibly damaged areas, areas that are poorly constructed, etc...
We can also verify whether the vibrations suffered by a building are in compliance with current standards, or we can design devices that minimize the effect of these or other vibrations.
